Beth Rowley, The Islington, N1 0XT, London - 10th June 2017

All three artists were excellent and Beth Rowley was special. I will aim to see her again. The venue could have done a better job as the noise from the bar was loud. Great evening though

Beth Rowley, The Islington, N1 0XT, London - 10th June 2017

Beth herself is a remarkable singer, blues and edgy ballads. Charismatic too with an easy charm for an audience that likes her, a lot. Stints on the harmonica are cool and pretty well done. Lyrics are rangy, not too repetitive. Poetry really. Accompanied by guitar and keyboard, both played really well.

Supports were excellent too, with Katey Brookes and Tom Forest. Katey is in the same vein as Beth, with her own amplified accoustic guitar and some piano. Wider vocal range. Tom sounds a lot like Tom McRae, who I like too.

None of this was boppy stuff, all pretty melancholic and/or heartfelt. But lovely songs played by lovely people. I'd recommend them all, but Beth especially.

The Islington is OK. Small and intimate, but struggled a bit with the heat, so tried to leave the pub doors open for Beth's slot, which left her competing with a loud ra ra twit at the bar. I got them to close the door!

Beth Rowley, Sunflower Lounge, Birmingham - 8th June 2017

My first visit to the Sunflower Lounge and hopefully not my last. A great little venue with great staff.

Bristolian soul singer Beth Rowley taps into blues, folk and even reggae influences to create a wondrous new sound all of her own.

Fans will be quick to book their Beth Rowley tickets and they will go quickly. You can place your gig ticket order 24/7 using a computer, smartphone or tablet with Gigantic.

Do not miss seeing her play at Sebright Arms in London on Sunday 22nd of October 2017.

Rowley came to the fore with the release of her debut EP titled Violets which was released in 2007.

She toured playing support for David Grey before the release of her first album Little Dreamer which helped raise her profile. Her album debut in 2008 was greatly received by the music press.

Following up on Beth Rowley's debut EP VIOLETS, her first full-length, LITTLE DREAMER, reveals the British singer-songwriter to be a gifted song stylist. Versed in both jazz and soul, like a midpoint between Amy Winehouse's gutbucket passion and Melody Gardot's refined cool, Rowley is a compelling singer with an excellent eye for material. Along with a batch of strong originals, covers include Bob Dylan's "I Shall Be Released" done in an unexpected reggae take, as well as a more traditionally torchy version of Willie Nelson's "Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground." - AllMusic

Her latest release was a second EP titled Wretched Body which came out in 2013.
