Ben Folds is an American singer-songwriter, pianist and composer celebrated for his sharp wit, emotional honesty and unmatched ability to blend pop craftsmanship with classical flair. Rising to prominence as the frontman of Ben Folds Five in the mid-nineties, he became known for his punchy piano-driven sound and clever, heartfelt lyricism. Albums such as Whatever and Ever Amen (1997) — featuring favourites like “Brick” and “Kate” — cemented his reputation as a singular voice in alternative pop. As a solo artist, Folds has continued to evolve through records including Rockin’ the Suburbs (2001) and Songs for Silverman (2005), showcasing both humour and vulnerability in equal measure.
Beyond his studio work, Folds has built a remarkable career collaborating with orchestras across the world, serving as the first-ever Artistic Advisor to the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center. His live performances are beloved for their spontaneity, warmth and crowd-inclusive energy — whether he’s conducting a symphonic arrangement or leading a rousing sing-along at the piano. With decades of acclaimed songwriting, genre-spanning projects and an unmistakable creative voice, Ben Folds remains one of modern music’s most influential and endlessly inventive artists.
