Andrew Cushin has quickly emerged as one of the North East’s most exciting songwriting talents, building a reputation for emotionally direct indie-rock songs filled with sharp observations and hard-won optimism. Raised in Newcastle’s Heaton suburb, he first broke through with the self-released single “It’s Gonna Get Better” before attracting the attention of Noel Gallagher, who produced and played guitar on “Where’s My Family Gone”. Pete Doherty also became an early supporter, signing Cushin to Strap Originals and taking him on tour with The Libertines.
His debut album Waiting For The Rain (2023) topped the Official Independent Album Breakers Chart, while follow-up Love Is For Everyone became his first UK Top 40 album. Away from the studio, Cushin has toured internationally with Louis Tomlinson and shared stages with artists including Paul Weller, Blossoms, The Lathums and The Reytons. His powerful hometown shows have become a defining part of his rise, with Newcastle audiences embracing him as one of their own.
