About Afriquoi

Afriquoi are a London-based fusion collective blending African rhythms, electronic beats, and live instrumentation to create an uplifting and dancefloor-ready sound. Formed in 2011, the group draws from a diverse range of influences, incorporating elements of house, Afrobeat, soca, and UK bass music. Their music is deeply rooted in collaboration, featuring musicians from Gambia, Democratic Republic of Congo, and the UK, bringing together traditional African instrumentation with modern electronic production.

Their breakout release Kolaba (2015) introduced their signature mix of hypnotic kora melodies, intricate percussion, and infectious grooves, with tracks like "Carnabala" and "Kudaushe" becoming festival favourites. Known for their high-energy live performances, Afriquoi have played at major UK and European festivals, including Glastonbury, Boomtown, and WOMAD, and have supported the likes of Bonobo and The Comet Is Coming. Their forward-thinking approach to global sounds and electronic fusion has made them one of the most exciting acts in the world music and dance scene today.
