Combining a raw sound with dense atmosphere and often touching on complex lyrical themes, Wire use guitars and synths to create complex songs that take a minimalist approach to guitaring yet still flex with power and energy.

First started in 1976, the band took influence from the punk rock revolution but expanded the musical scope to include more artistic and conceptual influence and became one of the true pioneers of post punk.

Having released their sixteenth (!) studio album Silver/Lead earlier in the year, they have announced upcoming live dates to promote the new material plus play selected songs from their impeccable back catalogue. Join them at Waterfront Studio in Norwich, Newhampton Arts Centre at Wolverhampton during October then Dryden Street Social at Leicester and The Bullingdon at Oxford during November 2017.

Make sure you book your Wire ticket early as they are expected to sell incredibly quickly!

Their arrival was announced with the release of their incredible first three albums Pink Flag, Chairs Missing and 154 which came out between 1977 and 1979.

"Over their brilliant first three albums, Wire expanded the sonic boundaries of not just punk, but rock music in general." - Stewart Mason

This added layer of sonic experimentation to the deconstructed aesthetic of punk thrilled audiences and heralded the start of post punk; a more considered departure from the initial nihilistic frenzy of the 1976 - 1977 first wave.

The change in musical approach also saw a change in the band’s lifespan. Whereas other bands of the time imploded through falls outs, burn outs or drug deaths, Wire have continued to be a relentless source of creativity constantly releasing ever more compelling albums.

Today, the band members currently include drummer Robert Grey, guitarists Matthew Simms and Colin Newman who takes vocals with Graham Lewis on bass.
