We Lost The Sea are a cinematic post-rock collective from Sydney, Australia, celebrated for their powerful, emotionally charged instrumental soundscapes. Formed in 2007, the band first drew influence from post-metal and sludge before evolving into a sweeping, narrative-driven instrumental project following the tragic passing of vocalist Chris Torpy in 2013. Their breakthrough album Departure Songs (2015) became a modern post-rock landmark — a moving, richly textured record inspired by stories of heroism and sacrifice, blending soaring crescendos, delicate ambience and devastating emotional weight. Follow-up albums Triumph & Disaster (2019) and Abrasive Blackout (2020) further cemented their status as one of the genre’s most evocative and imaginative bands.
On stage, We Lost The Sea deliver performances that are immersive, cathartic and profoundly atmospheric, pairing their towering dynamics with striking visual elements to create an experience that feels almost cinematic. Their music resonates deeply with fans around the world, carrying themes of loss, resilience and humanity with both grace and intensity. Touring internationally across Europe, the UK, Asia and Australia, the band continue to push the boundaries of instrumental rock, crafting soundscapes that are as thought-provoking as they are emotionally overwhelming.
