Volbeat are a Danish rock band formed in Copenhagen in 2001, originally led by vocalist and guitarist Michael Poulsen after his tenure in the death metal band Dominus. Over time they’ve crafted a distinctive sound that melds heavy metal, hard rock, rockabilly and classic rock & roll — a powerful hybrid often described as “Elvis metal” or “groove metal meets rockabilly.” From their earliest days, they built momentum through energetic live shows and daring genre fusion.
Their first album The Strength / The Sound / The Songs (2005) introduced their bold voice, while Rock the Rebel / Metal the Devil (2007) became a breakthrough in Denmark, debuting at No 1. Their 2010 Beyond Hell / Above Heaven earned acclaim and major chart success in multiple countries. Known for commanding festival stages, sharp hooks, tough riffs and a charismatic frontman, Volbeat continue to stand out as a band that pushes boundaries while honouring rock’s roots.
