Vehicle

Additional information

Originating as the brainchild of Michael Cable (formerly of Perspex), Vehicle crawled out of watering holes across Leeds’ flourishing and much-beloved DIY scene. Wryly describing themselves as a ‘hellpop beat combo’, the band dole out bejangled garage-rock flavours, filtering their passions for the vintages of Merseybeat, British Invasion, 80s psych and americana through a surrealistic lens of modern life in Northern British city.

The world of ‘Fumes’, their new album, due March 19th 2027, is a world of Fisherman’s Friend and; Counterfeit Tobacco; Grey crushed velvet and Satellite Towns; The kebab shops of Lincoln Green; Barry's Gold, Ginger Nuts and Danny’s famous chilli; Leeds Bus Station, car parks and police interceptors. Taking its title from a dream Cable once had as an internationally acclaimed artist “formerly known as fumes’’, the nine tracks across Vehicle’s new record billow up mystically like plumes of smoke from pools of deep matter. Across its acerbic, humorous and surreal kitchen sink satires, Fumes’ dredges up mucky gold from the corners of the subconscious, and all those things, Cable says “the world has forgotten to remember”.
