UFO are an important part of rock history typifying the transition period between hard rock and heavy metal. They were particularly influential on establishing the space rock sound. The band have been working for over forty-five years and have released a truly impressive twenty-two studio albums. It comes as little surprise that the band was featured in VH1’s compilation of 100 Greatest Artists Of Hard Rock.

The band’s current line-up includes original members singer Phil Mogg and drummer Andy Parker, who are joined by rhythm guitarist and veteran member Paul Raymond and Vinnie Moore on guitar with Rob De Luca on bass.

First starting in London during 1969, the band were called Hocus Pocus and changed their name in homage of the club of the same name in which they were spotted and subsequently signed. The bands heavy space rock sound gave them international appeal seeing them sell significantly well in Germany and Japan as well as the UK.

The band really began to progress with the temporary addition of Michael Schenker from the German rock band Scorpions. Aged only 18 when he joined, his talent helped steer the band to record a trio of consecutive rock album classics; Phenomenon (1974), Force It (1975) and No Heavy Pettin’ (1976).

Their latest album release was entitled A Conspiracy Of Stars and was released in 2015.

UFO tickets will go on sale Monday 23rd of May at 09:00.

See the off the wall band play at O2 Academy Sheffield on the 30th of October.
