Tony Wright (Terrorvision), The Hairy Dog, Derby - 16th September 2017
A show with Tony in it is always tremendous value for money. Songs pulled from Terrorvision and his solo career and all with choruses you can sing along to loudly and proudly. There's warmth and depth here, and quality onstage banter. The smaller intimate venue suited the nature of the performance well, and does not come recommended enough.

It takes a lot to get me to the mean streets of Derby, but a Tony Wright gig is definitely worth the trip. His acoustic gigs with fellow travelling minstrel Milly Evans are always entertaining. The pair work well together, not just musically, but also in sharing stories with the audience and banter with each other. The music is what we've all ventured out to witness though and Tony and Milly deliver with a stronger and more confident sound than when I last saw them in Derby a year ago. The setlist is mainly drawn from Tony's second solo album, Walnut Dash, a rockier album than its predecessor and the songs go down well, as do the anecdotes of the backgrounds to songs. Inevitably, many in the crowd are Terrorvision fans and have their appetites sated with a few of their tunes and a mass singalong breaks out. The fact that more and more people happily sing along with the solo albums' songs now too shows they are getting some of the recognition they deserve. Albums full of joy, heartbreak, loss and characters and settings from Tony's mind, they are well worth checking out, as are the live shows.

A great mix of songs from Tony's two solo albums and half a dozen or so Terrorvision songs played acoustically, with the set lasting just under two hours it was great value for money. I strongly urge any Terrorvision fan to check out his solo gigs, you won't be disappointed.

Really enjoyed the acoustic performance with cracking songs by a unique frontman with funny banter between Tony and Milly.
The acoustics of the gig was spot on!
