The Long Ryders, Rescue Rooms, Nottingham - 11th April 2019
Great to have the Long Ryders back in Nottingham, the last time I saw them here was in 2004. It was a great gig for the packed rescue rooms audience as we were gifted a heartfelt career spanning set including some from the excellent new album and a few lesser heard tunes such as Southside of the Story. Highlights for me were a sparkling I Want You Bad and What the Eagle Sees. Amazing to see the ambassadors of Americana at the top of their game, come back soon guys you made a lot of people very happy.

The Long Ryders, Gorilla, Manchester - 10th April 2019
Wonderful evening in the company of The Long Ryders

My first ever gig at Gorilla in Manchester and what a great night I had. True it was to see a band who split up almost thirty years ago and who I never thought I would get chance to see. But equally as good as the music was the venue. I rocked up to the main bar about 7.20pm, I was on my own so it was great to get a seat at the bar. Great range of drinks and a good barman made life feel pretty good. Ordered the steak frites which came nice and quickly and was tasty too, a large glass of Pinot helped!! Then onto the gig, walked out and round to the music entrance and thought wow what a cool place. Stage area was set in front of an old 1950's electrical control panel in metal blue, room for a couple of hundred stood in front, low level lighting, a small bar on the back wall with a few seats above for those that need. Bar served Neck Oil IPA which is great beer, and again the two girls who were working were quick and polite. Then the music started, a support group called The Hanging Stars I think, played 50 minute and were very good. At 9.10 out walked the Long Ryders to theme of The Magnificent Seven, and stood before us like the unknown legends of rock they are!! Just a brilliant set with all my favourites, I Had A Dream Last NIght being the standout song. And very apt for the way I feel about my night at Gorilla!!
