Swim School (stylised in lowercase) are a Scottish indie rock band from Edinburgh whose music blends shimmering melodies, grunge-tinged guitars and emotional directness. Formed in late 2018, the original line-up included Alice Johnson (vocals, guitar), Lewis Bunting, Matt Mitchell and Nairn Milne. Over time the line-up shifted — Mitchell and Milne departed and Billy McMahon joined — and the trio grew more confident in their voice. Their sound draws on influences such as Wolf Alice and Slowdive, combining ethereal atmospheres with gritty indie rock urgency.
Their early EP Volume 1 heralded a band with promise, and subsequent releases such as Making Sense of It All and Duality have sharpened their identity, exploring themes of mental health, relationships and self-assertion. In 2024 they released their mixtape Seeing It Now, expanding their sonic palette and reaffirming their momentum. They’ve supported acts like Inhaler on the UK & Europe Cuts & Bruises tour and earned praise from outlets such as NME, Dork, Clash and The Line of Best Fit, while also enjoying airplay on BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6 Music. On stage, their live presence is intimate but powerful — a band building a growing reputation without letting pressure define them.
Ticket prices may vary depending on venue and location. Full pricing details are available on each individual event page.
