The music of Sunset Sons has sent fans and critics crazy. Their propulsive indie rock anthems have wowed crowds and critics around the world having been on the shortlisted for BBC Sound Of 2015 as well as being named by MTV’s Brand New and XFM Great X-Pectations.
The four piece are made up of Rory Williams, Jed Laidlaw, Rob Windram and Pete Harper and are based in South West French town of Hossegor which is known as 'The European Surfing Capital'. The band formed after Jed visited a bar called Le Surfing where he saw Rory perform. Thinking they could make some money, the pair recruited Rob and Pete to form a covers band called The Cheersleaders and started out playing wild snowboarding parties in the French Alps.
“We played loads of very raucous shows up there during winter,” says Rob. “It helped us get tight.”
During this time the band began to play their own original material and changed their name to Sunset Sons. They quickly began to record and in 2014 they released Le Surfing EP, the title coming from the bar where they had met. Later that year the band also released the No Bad Days EP.
The recordings saw a flurry of attention from the press leading to a deal with massive label Polydor. Keen to records, The Fall Line EP and She Wants EP were released in 2015.
Their brand new album Very Rarely Say Die was released in April 2016.
