Sunflower Bean are a New York trio known for their shimmering blend of indie rock, psych and dream pop. Formed in 2013, the band, Julia Cumming (vocals/bass), Nick Kivlen (vocals/guitar) and Olive Faber (drums), quickly established themselves with their energetic live shows and a sound that nods to both 70s rock and contemporary indie. Their debut album, Human Ceremony (2016), introduced their mix of raw guitar lines and ethereal vocals, while follow-up Twentytwo in Blue (2018) showcased a more refined, melodic side, earning critical acclaim for its maturity and breadth.
In 2022, they returned with Headful of Sugar, a record that pushed their sound further into bold, genre-spanning territory with driving rhythms, sharp lyrics and adventurous production. Alongside studio releases, Sunflower Bean have built a reputation as a powerful live act, playing festivals such as Glastonbury, SXSW and Lollapalooza, and touring with the likes of The Pixies, DIIV and Interpol. With their mix of classic influences and forward-thinking creativity, they’ve become one of the most compelling bands on the modern indie circuit.
