Steam Down are a trailblazing Afro-punk collective, event series and creative community founded in London by multi-instrumentalist and producer Ahnansé in 2017. What began as a weekly jam to connect musicians quickly grew into one of the capital’s most vital hubs for spontaneous, boundary-pushing sound. Their shows blur the line between artist and audience, creating an immersive co-creative experience where everyone’s energy matters. Along the way, they’ve picked up two Jazz FM Awards, including the Innovation Award and Live Experience of the Year, while Sky News spotlighted them for their pivotal role in London’s thriving jazz scene.
Now firmly established on the global stage, Steam Down have headlined tours across the UK, Europe, the US and South Africa, and sold out iconic London venues including the Jazz Café, the Albany and Village Underground. Festival appearances range from Glastonbury’s Park Stage and Gilles Peterson’s We Out Here to Montreux Jazz Festival and SXSW. Their debut single, "Free My Skin", has clocked over 3 million streams and soundtracked the Adidas FIFA World Cup campaign, while "Etcetera," released on the legendary Blue Note label, featured on the FIFA 21 soundtrack. Following their Five Fruit EP, Steam Down continue to evolve — with their long-awaited debut album marking the next chapter in their journey.
