Sophie Ellis-Bextor is back with her brand new album Familia. The new release is the latest for the sensational singer who has undergone a huge transformation from indie starlet to massive mainstream success who now enjoys internationally recognition.

Her early career began as the singer for indie rock band Theaudience. Achieving some success, the band released one eponymously titled album which hit #22 in the UK charts which caught the attention of Manic Street Preachers who recruited her to perform on their song Black Holes For The Young. The band split in 1999 leading to Ellis-Bextor providing vocals for Italian DJ Spiller on the track Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love) which beat Victoria Beckham to take #1 in the singles chart and was garnished by praise from the press.

The newfound fame led to a solo contract and the release of the album Read My Lips in 2001. Another commercial success, the album blended catchy pop and pushed a mature stylish image through singles such as Take Me Home and the massive hit Murder On The Dancefloor to reach #2 in the album charts and eventually become certified double platinum.

Now a permanent fixture in the charts and recognised as a pop icon, her subsequent releases include the albums Shoot From The Hip, Trip The Light Fantastic, Make a Scene and Wanderlust. He latest album is entitled Familia and was produced by the massively popular Ed Harcourt.
