The band burst onto the Manchester punk scene in 2002 with the launch of their self-titled demo CD followed by second EP The Turbo the next year. They began touring heavily, playing with such massive names as hip hop punks King Prawn and third wave ska heroes The Toasters.

Sonic Boom Six were invited to perform on BBC Radio 1’s The Lock Up just prior to the release of their debut album The Ruff Guide To Gene-Terrorism, released in 2006. The album was re-released as a Deluxe Edition through their own label Rebel Alliance through which they brought out their 2007 second album Arcade Perfect and the 2009 third LP City Of Thieves. They released the eponymously titled fourth album Sonic Boom Six in 2012 through indie label Xtra Mile Recordings.

The band’s latest release is their brand new album The F-Bomb. The money to record was raised through crowd funding and was released through cool indie label Cherry Red Records.
