Skillet are a multi-platinum rock band from Memphis, Tennessee, formed in 1996 by vocalist and bassist John Cooper. Known for their powerful blend of hard rock, symphonic flourishes and faith-driven lyricism, they broke through with Collide (2003) and Comatose (2006), which introduced stadium-ready anthems such as “Whispers in the Dark” and “Rebirthing”. Their live performances quickly earned a reputation for high-energy theatrics, complete with string sections, pyrotechnics and soaring choruses.
The band’s success grew with albums including Awake (2009), featuring the hit “Monster”, one of the most-streamed rock songs of all time, followed by Rise (2013), Unleashed (2016) and Dominion (2022). Skillet have toured extensively across the UK and Europe, performing at Download Festival and supporting major acts while continuing to headline their own international tours. With their mix of heavy riffs, cinematic scope and uplifting themes, they remain one of modern rock’s most enduring and inspirational bands.
