Born Sigrid Solbakk Raabe on 5 September 1996 in Ålesund, Norway, Sigrid’s musical journey began early: she learned piano at age seven and later picked up guitar and voice, eventually deciding to follow music full-time rather than pursue more conventional paths. When she was 17, she and her sister formed a band named Sala Says Mhyp, and soon after she moved to Bergen, where Norway’s indie and pop scenes opened doors to her own songwriting voice. Her breakthrough came with the EP Don’t Kill My Vibe (2017), a defiant anthem that captured both vulnerability and strength — and led her to win BBC’s Sound of 2018.
Her debut album Sucker Punch (2019) landed at number one in Norway and cracked the UK Top 5, and her follow-up How to Let Go (2022) further revealed her growth in both sonic texture and emotional breadth. Known for her crystalline voice, honest lyrics and ability to blend pop accessibility with emotional depth, Sigrid has toured widely — supporting George Ezra and Maroon 5 among others — and continues to be a strong presence in modern pop music.
