Robert Gromotka
Little Life Tour 2027
Kings Place (Hall One), London
Doors at 19:00 | Ends: 22:00
Robert Gromotka's route to the piano took a few detours. He started on the flute aged six and later studied it in Dortmund. As a teenager he played in rock and soul bands, and on an exchange semester in Granada he discovered the double bass, which sparked a love of improvisation that still shapes his writing. He also spent years composing for TV, film and radio, including music for much-loved German children's show Die Sendung mit der Maus and a Grimme Award-nominated episode of Die Sendung mit dem Elefanten.
These days the piano sits at the heart of everything he does. Inspired by Pärt, Chopin and Satie, he pares each piece back to a clear melody and a gentle pulse, often adding violin or cello for extra warmth. Pieces such as "Dreamland" and "Little Life" show that less-is-more approach at its best. He's a keen collaborator too. He has written with Claudio Constantini, Alexander Motovilov and Emilio Piano, and teamed up with fellow pianist Jonas Hain on the joint album Between Us (2026). Expect intimate, unhurried music with room to breathe.
The event is taking place at Kings Place (Hall One), London. See individual listings for full venue details.
