Poets of the Fall are a Finnish indie rock band whose sound blends art rock, symphonic flourishes and moments of grunge-inflected intensity. Formed in Helsinki, the sextet are led by vocalist Marko Saaresto alongside Olli Tukiainen (lead guitar), Markus “Captain” Kaarlonen (keys), Jani Snellman (bass), Jaska Mäkinen (rhythm guitar) and Jari Salminen (drums). Their music is known for its cinematic scale, emotive melodies and philosophical lyricism, pairing polished production with a strong sense of atmosphere and drama.
Across nine studio albums — Signs of Life (2005), Carnival of Rust (2006), Revolution Roulette (2008), Twilight Theater (2010), Temple of Thought (2012), Jealous Gods (2014), Clearview (2016), Ultraviolet (2018) and Ghostlight (2022) — the band have continually refined their sound while retaining a clear melodic and emotional core. Their longevity is rooted in a commitment to craft and a willingness to evolve, resulting in a body of work that balances accessibility with ambition and has earned them a devoted international following.
