Additional information
Hi Nottingham,
After another record breaking heatwave this summer, devastating glacier collapse and flooding in Nepal, and extensive wildfires across Europe, predicted food shortages and experts telling us the worst is yet to come - it's clear that something is wrong. Was this our coldest summer ever? What exactly is climate change? Will it be as bad as they say? And is there still time to save the planet?
We'll be taking this huge topic and tackling some common misinformation about what the climate crisis actually is, as well as talking about the things we can do - both collectively and as individuals. There is a lot to talk about - and big choices for us to make as a species - we can't wait to hear your thoughts on how we should respond to this crisis together.
Not your typical politics event - Pints & Politics evenings are designed to be an informal space to learn about the big issues in our society, how decisions that affect us get made and to share your thoughts on how they impact you and what we can do about them locally.
Non partisan and focussed on community - We’re not affiliated to a political party and are community based. The aim isn’t to score points or convince others of your opinion - it’s not a debate club. It’s a place for us to learn together. It's for everyone who is curious about the world around them and wants to build community and take action for a better world where all of us can thrive.
On the night - Join us at The Grove in Sneinton Market on 30th September at 7pm. This time we'll be focussing on all things climate and what the changes in global temperatures mean for all of us. The evening will include some fun themed activities to warm us up, structured input on the issue and group discussions to understand your key questions and opinions. As well as a chance to meet new people over snacks and generally just have a good time!
To get your free ticket simply sign up here. We're a grassroots group with no funding to subsidise these events and rely on community support. We will always make sure there are free tickets and money isn't a barrier to attend, to make this possible optional donations to help us cover costs will be taken on the door. Drinks will be available to purchase at the bar, and we will have snacks available, again with optional donations. Please bring cash for donations if you are able.
Please share far and wide - we’d love to have you with us 😊
*Oh and we went with pints & politics because it sounds good - alliteration and all that - Other drinks (including non alcoholic drinks) obviously available, and responsible drinking very much encouraged.
