Additional information

Katy Silverman is Director of Music at St Mary’s, Battersea, where she is passionate about maintaining an excellent amateur choir alongside a thriving choral and organ scholarship programme. Recent projects at St Mary’s have included a performance of a newly-commissioned anthem by the composer Ben Ponniah, evensong at Magdalene College, Cambridge, and a collaboration with the Bromley Boy Singers.

Katy read Music at Worcester College, Oxford and accompanied and directed the chapel choir as organ scholar throughout her degree. After graduating she qualified as a secondary school teacher and taught music for several years before deciding to devote more time to the organ. Katy went on to be the organ scholar at Guildford Cathedral and Assistant Director of Music at St Mary’s, Putney before taking up her current role. She graduated with Distinction from the Master of Music in Performance course at the Royal College of Music in 2018, where she studied with David Graham, Andrew Dewar and Sophie-Véronique Cauchefer-Choplin. She also holds the Associateship diploma from the Royal College of Organists.
