Open Mike Eagle is a Chicago-born, Los Angeles–based rapper, comedian and cultural commentator known for his “art rap” style — a blend of sharp wit, emotional honesty and inventive, left-field production. With a background in Project Blowed and a long-standing connection to the alternative hip-hop community, he has carved out a space defined by introspective storytelling, offbeat humour and creative fearlessness. Albums such as Dark Comedy (2014) and Brick Body Kids Still Daydream (2017) earned widespread acclaim, with the latter praised for its moving reflections on memory, identity and the demolition of Chicago’s Robert Taylor Homes.
On stage, Open Mike Eagle brings charm, intelligence and vulnerability, delivering performances that feel as much like conversations as they do rap shows. He’s collaborated with an array of artists across genres — from Serengeti and Quelle Chris to Danny Brown and They Might Be Giants — and is equally celebrated for his work in podcasting and comedy, including The New Negroes and What Had Happened Was. Blending sharp lyricism, inventive production and his signature deadpan warmth, Open Mike Eagle remains one of hip-hop’s most distinctive and creatively bold voices.
