Nothing are a Philadelphia-based shoegaze band known for their towering walls of sound, vulnerable lyricism and emotionally heavy atmospheres. Formed by vocalist and guitarist Domenic Palermo in 2010, the band blend shimmering guitars, post-hardcore grit and dream-pop melancholy into something both beautifully ethereal and brutally raw. Their debut album Guilty of Everything (2014) established them as a major force in modern shoegaze, followed by Tired of Tomorrow (2016) and Dance on the Blacktop (2018), each record digging deeper into themes of trauma, isolation and resilience. With its immersive textures and stark honesty, Nothing’s music resonates powerfully with fans seeking catharsis and emotional depth.
On stage, the band deliver a mesmerising balance of delicacy and intensity — huge, reverb-laden guitars wrapped around Palermo’s understated, aching vocals. Their most recent album The Great Dismal (2020) pushed their sound into even darker, more expansive territory, reflecting both personal struggle and the wider anxieties of the modern world. Through constantly evolving soundscapes and fiercely authentic songwriting, Nothing have carved out a unique place in the alternative landscape, standing as one of the most compelling and emotionally resonant bands in contemporary shoegaze.
