Last updated: August 2026. Liverpool’s Red Rum Club have had a meteoric rise to stardom. Their distinctive brass-led indie-rock has been dubbed as “Mariachi Merseybeat” – combining the trumpet-laden passionate flair of traditional Mexican Mariachi music with the catchy, melodic energy of Liverpool’s Merseybeat sound – has certainly given them a great unique selling point. Now regarded as one of the UK’s most exciting live acts, they’re bringing the party on their UK tour this October, followed by a huge outdoor charity show in Wrexham next summer.

Red Rum Club: From Liverpool to The World
The band's story begins in Liverpool, bringing together Fran Doran, Tom Williams, Michael McDermott, Simon Hepworth and Neil Lawson after the members had previously played in different bands in Merseyside. After quickly finding chemistry, Red Rum Club were formed, following a shared love for music, spaghetti western movies and trumpet-led arrangements.
Their debut album Matador arrived in 2019, followed by The Hollow of Humdrum in 2020 and How To Steal The World in 2021, which pushed their sound further and cemented their reputation as a formidable and fun live act. Continuing their rise, 2024’s Western Approaches paid homage to Liverpool’s historic dockland command centre, bringing together the band’s proud Merseyside roots with their music’s American influences.
Red Rum Club’s success continued to rise, following appearances at the coveted Glastonbury Festival, as well as international tours. In 2025, Red Rum Club took another step forward with their fifth studio album, BUCK, which reached Number 7 on the UK Albums Chart, their highest-charting album to date.
About the Upcoming Red Rum Club Shows
As part of a very special partnership with FOCUS Wales, Red Rum Club’s huge outdoor show in Wrexham’s Llwyn Isaf will be in support of Nightingale House Hospice, a beloved registered charity that provides specialist palliative care services and support for those who need it in Wrexham and the surrounding areas.
This show will act as a cornerstone in the band’s career, as they continue their rise, gaining new fans and followers through their ever-growing live shows. Taking place on Saturday 1st May 2027, this show will be a perfect round-off following their upcoming tour this October.
The tour will see the band visit substantial cities such as London, Nottingham and Portsmouth, with several dates featuring support from rising indie acts including Cherryholt and Keyside, while the London show also features Brògeal and Rum Jungle.
For fans who have followed the band through their recent run of increasingly ambitious shows, this tour and very special summer show offers the chance to see them in spaces where their energetic, communal live sound can really take over the room.
Latest Album: BUCK
BUCK arrived in September 2025, giving Red Rum Club a bold new chapter to build on the success of Western Approaches (2024). The 11-track record is an energetic mixture of alternative rock, indie and Americana, with the band's familiar hooks and storytelling pushed into more experimental territory.
Among the record's standout tracks are “Crush, TX” and “American Nights & English Mornings”, which capture the band's continuing fascination with the American landscape and the experiences they've gathered on the road. The band said, “This album was very much inspired by our time in America. Our trips to America have definitely impacted some of the sounds, some of the themes on the album, so it’s only right that we tell some stories tonight about how the US has infiltrated our psyche.”
The result is a record that sounds unmistakably like Red Rum Club while giving their brass-heavy indie-rock plenty of room to do the talking.

Red Rum Club Live: What to Expect
A Red Rum Club show is less about standing politely and listening, and more about experiencing the full force of the Mariachi Merseybeat.
The band's brass-led arrangements, ringing guitars and rapid-fire rhythms are built for the stage. The result is a set that can move from the cinematic Americana of Western Approaches and BUCK into enormous choruses from the band's earlier records without losing its momentum.
Recent festival setlists have included “Vibrating”, “American Nights & English Mornings”, “Monaco”, “Crush, TX”, “Kids Addicted”, “Hole In My Home”, “Would You Rather Be Lonely?”, and “Angeline” giving a good indication of how the band have struck a harmonious balance between playing newer material from BUCK, as well as their fan-favourite earlier material.
