About New Regency Orchestra

The New Regency Orchestra (NRO) is a UK-based 18-piece Afro-Cuban jazz collective that blends the sounds of jazz and Latin music. Drawing inspiration from the rich musical history of New York in the 1950s and 70s, when jazz icons like Dizzy Gillespie met the Cuban rhythms of artists such as Chano Pozo and Machito, the band delivers a vibrant, horn-heavy sound that’s as much about dancing as it is about musicianship. The ensemble's compositions feature explosive brass, intricate percussion, and a powerful rhythm section.

Since forming, NRO has become a significant player in the UK Latin jazz scene. They’ve made waves with live performances, including their residency at EartH Theatre, and their recent single “Mambo Herd,” a take on the classic Tito Puente and Woody Herman track. Their debut album, will continue their exploration of this energetic and dynamic genre
