Molly Nilsson (born 14 December 1984 in Stockholm, Sweden) is a fiercely independent, Berlin-based synth-pop artist, producer and songwriter known for her unmistakable DIY ethos. Self-releasing music since 2008 via her own Dark Skies Association label—and later working with Night School Records—she crafts emotionally direct, lo-fi synth anthems that fuse shadowy electronic textures, poetic lyricism and a striking contralto voice. Her albums, including Imaginations (2017), Extreme (2022), and Un-American Activities (2024), explore themes of hope, political unrest and personal longing, earning widespread praise as bold and thought-provoking works.
Having played hundreds of shows around the world, Molly is celebrated for her intimate, self-run live performances—typically appearing solo with minimal production and maximum presence. With a loyal cult following across Europe, North America and beyond, she’s graced festival stages and toured alongside artists such as MGMT. Still writing, recording and releasing entirely on her terms, Molly Nilsson stands as a compelling figure in modern independent music—steadfast, outspoken and always evolving.
