UK Blues Hall of Famer and four-time UK Blues Award winner Oli "Mississippi" MacDonald brings his soul-drenched blues to Mycenae House for one night only.
A Londoner with a deep feel for Memphis soul, Mississippi MacDonald has spent the last five years quietly becoming one of the most authentic voices in British blues. Signed to APM Records in 2021, he's since topped the charts on both sides of the Atlantic — Heavy State Loving Blues held the UK IBBA number one spot for two months running, a feat no artist had managed in years, while I Got What You Need hit number one on the RMR Global Soul Blues Chart within a week of release. Do Right, Say Right was named one of Mojo's top ten blues albums of 2022.
The credentials run deep. He's recorded at Royal Studios in Memphis with the legendary Hi Rhythm — the band behind Al Green, Ann Peebles and Otis Clay — alongside two-time Grammy-winning producer Boo Mitchell. He's played Beale Street and King Biscuit Time, joined the Take Me To The River All Stars with William Bell, Jools Holland and Eric Gales, appeared at Jazzfest New Orleans with Taj Mahal and the Neville brothers, and headlined the Lovefields Stage at Glastonbury. His music is a fixture on Cerys Matthews' BBC Radio 2 Blues Show and Sirius XM's BB King's Bluesville.
"He just has it, he gets it — the sound, the feeling, the legacy is wrapped up in him and his playing." — Miss Carla Thomas
"Mississippi MacDonald represents the next generation of great guitarists who hail from the UK… wholly authentic, he's earned the right to claim the name." — Living Blues, USA
A rich, full voice, stunning guitar work and a songbook steeped in Memphis. Don't miss it.
