Formed in the early 2000s, Million Dead were a fiercely energetic post-hardcore band known for their politically charged lyrics and raw, uncompromising sound. Fronted by vocalist Frank Turner before his solo career took off, the band gained a devoted following with their debut album A Song to Ruin (2003), which included standout tracks like "Smiling at Strangers on Trains". Their follow-up, Harmony No Harmony (2005), showcased a broader sonic palette while retaining the band’s sharp lyrical edge.
Million Dead earned a reputation as a must-see live act, playing festivals such as Reading & Leeds and sharing stages with acts like Funeral for a Friend and Hundred Reasons. Their intense live performances and thought-provoking songwriting made a lasting impact on the UK underground scene, even though the band disbanded in 2005.
