About Meryl Streek

Dublin's Meryl Streek makes raw, uncompromising avant-garde punk, blending electronica, Irish folk melodies and news samples with spoken-word vocals that swing between fury and vulnerability. Armed with little more than a microphone and a laptop, he went from playing his first gig in a local squat to supporting Public Image Ltd at London's Kentish Town Forum in less than a year. His debut album 796 (2022) tackled the Tuam mother and baby home scandal, the Catholic Church and the housing crisis, with "Death To The Landlord", "False Apologies" and "Yesterday" winning him a loyal following in Ireland and the UK.

Follow-up Songs For The Deceased (2024), home to "If This Is Life", was named by Louder as one of the ten best punk albums of the last decade. Third album Stories They Don't Teach You At School (2026) confronts depression, addiction, homelessness and the cost of living, bringing in guests including Steve Ignorant of Crass, Pete Holidai of The Radiators From Space and Phil Jupitus. On stage he's intense and cathartic, and he's played Rebellion in Blackpool and 2000trees in Cheltenham, where he opened the main stage in 2025.
