Melys are an independent Welsh indie-pop/rock band hailing from the village of Betws-y-Coed in Snowdonia. Formed in 1996 by vocalist Andrea Parker and guitarist/keyboardist Paul Adams, they quickly built a reputation for melodic songs sung in both English and Welsh. They signed to the influential Welsh label Ankstmusik and then released their debut album Rumours and Curses (1998). Their track “Chinese Whispers” topped DJ John Peel’s festive 50 in 2001, marking a high point in their early success.
Over the years, Melys became known for their strong live performances (they won the Welsh Music Award for Best Live Act in 2002) and for maintaining an independent spirit, releasing further albums including Kamikaze (2000), Casting Pearls (2002) and Life’s Too Short (2005). After a period of relative quiet, the band returned to live performance in recent years, toured across the UK, and released new material—including the single “Santa Cruz” ahead of their 2025 album Second Wind.
Ticket prices may vary depending on venue and location. Full pricing details are available on each individual event page.
