Lil Tracy is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter known for his pioneering role in the emo rap movement. Born Jazz Ishmael Butler in 1995, he is the son of Ishmael Butler (Digable Planets, Shabazz Palaces) and Coko Clemons (SWV), giving him a strong musical lineage. Emerging from the underground SoundCloud rap scene, Lil Tracy became a key collaborator of the late Lil Peep, contributing to hits like “Awful Things” and “White Wine,” which helped shape the melancholic, genre-blending style of emo rap.
Tracy’s solo work, including mixtapes like Life of a Popstar (2017) and albums such as Anarchy (2019) and Saturn Child (2023), showcases his fusion of punk, trap, and alternative rock influences. His emotionally charged lyrics, raw aesthetic, and melodic flows have earned him a dedicated fanbase. Having toured extensively across the US, UK, and Europe, Lil Tracy continues to push boundaries in alternative hip-hop, solidifying his status as a cult figure in the scene.
