After the darkest period of his career following a catastrophic injury, acclaimed acoustic pioneer Jon Gomm is finally bringing his extraordinary live show back to stages across Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
The tour marks an emotional return which Gomm doubted might ever be possible. The heart-stopping moment occurred at the end of a performance in Portugal back in February, as he slipped from the stage, plunging two metres to the concrete floor below. Rushed back to the UK for emergency surgery, doctors fought to rebuild his bone with two three-centimetre titanium screws. What followed was a grueling battle: Months of painful physiotherapy, self-doubt, and the fear that he might never play music again. Now fully healed as well as titanium-clad, this Autumn’s “Unbroken” tour, celebrates both his recovery and his determination to reconnect with the world again. “This tour is the distant light I’ve been fighting towards every day. And literally dreaming about,” says Gomm. “I’m so relieved to have my powers back that to be honest I won’t care if I’m the only person in the venue. But if people would like to be there for my unleashing, that would be lovely too.”
