Originally from Cranbrook, England, Cleary fell in love with the music of New Orleans as a teenager and eventually made the Crescent City his home. Immersing himself in the rich musical heritage of the city, he studied under local legends and carved out a career steeped in authenticity and soul.
He is celebrated for being a piano great, multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, arranger, and producer. Cleary has many influences, including rock, RnB and blues. Whether performing solo or with his band, The Absolute Monster Gentlemen, his shows are a celebration of groove, rhythm, and deep musicality.
His 2015 album GoGo Juice won the Grammy for Best Regional Roots Music Album, solidifying his status as a master of his craft. Over the years, Cleary has collaborated with iconic artists such as Bonnie Raitt, Taj Mahal, Dr. John, and John Scofield, further showcasing his versatility and deep respect within the music community.
