A wonderful evening’s entertainment
As a lover of jazz, I knew of the Hot Club of France and I have heard their performances on record and radio. Tonight I witnessed the Hot Club of Aylestone, and what a performance it was, a female singer, a double bass player, a rhythm guitarist and two principal guitarists. With due respect to the others, the two principal guitarists were the stars of the show. In effect they almost duelled with each other playing wonderful gypsy jazz solos, most of which were played at breakneck speed. Their hands and fingers were almost a blur but they never missed a note. If you like your jazz in the style of Stephane Grappelli and Django Reinhardt then this monthly offering is for you.
