SUNDAY 7 MARCH 2027 | ICC WALES, NEWPORT
Some of the biggest names in musical theatre are set to take centre stage at ICC Wales for one spectacular night, as ICONS OF THE WEST END brings together an extraordinary line-up of internationally acclaimed performers for an unforgettable celebration of musical theatre.
Featuring stars whose careers have taken them from London's West End to Broadway and stages across the globe, this dazzling concert promises an evening of powerhouse vocals, iconic musical numbers and captivating stories from behind the curtain.
With credits spanning some of the world's most beloved musicals, including Wicked, Kinky Boots, Grease, Les Misérables, The Phantom of the Opera, Miss Saigon and The Devil Wears Prada, audiences can expect an exceptional showcase of talent from performers who have helped bring these celebrated productions to life.
Leading the star-studded line-up is Kerry Ellis, one of the UK's most acclaimed musical theatre performers. Ellis made history as the first British actress to play Elphaba in the West End production of Wicked, before taking the iconic role to Broadway. Renowned for her extraordinary vocal range and commanding stage presence, she has performed to audiences around the world, headlined major concerts and enjoyed a longstanding musical collaboration with Queen guitarist Brian May.
Joining her is Olivier Award winner Matt Henry MBE, who originated the role of Lola in the West End production of Kinky Boots, delivering a career-defining performance that earned him widespread critical acclaim and one of theatre's most prestigious awards. Henry continues to captivate audiences, currently appearing in the West End production of The Devil Wears Prada, bringing his unmistakable charisma, vocal brilliance and electrifying stage presence to another major musical.
Also taking to the stage is the sensational Lauren Samuels, who recently completed a US tour as Elphaba in Wicked. Lauren first captured the nation's attention as a finalist on Andrew Lloyd Webber's BBC One talent search Over the Rainbow in 2010. Since then, she has built an impressive career, with leading credits including Sandy in Grease at the Piccadilly Theatre, Jules in Bend It Like Beckham at the Phoenix Theatre and Scaramouche in We Will Rock You, including its 10th Anniversary World Arena Tour. She also appeared as Meg in the international tour of Sting's musical The Last Ship.
Flying the flag for Wales is acclaimed musical theatre performer Tom Hier. Originally from Merthyr Tydfil, Tom has built an impressive career, with credits including the international tour of Miss Saigon and the iconic title role in the UK tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Tom is also widely recognised for his performances with the celebrated vocal supergroup Welsh of the West End, with appearances at prestigious venues including London’s Royal Albert Hall and The Dubai Opera. Now, Tom returns to home soil for what promises to be a particularly special appearance at ICONS OF THE WEST END, bringing his extraordinary talent back to the heart of Wales.
The concert will also feature Rebecca Hodson, an accomplished performer whose extensive experience across stage and screen adds another exciting dimension to this exceptional line-up.
CELEBRATING THE NEXT GENERATION OF WELSH TALENT
In a special celebration of Wales's rich musical heritage, these West End stars will be joined by local young choirs, bringing the unmistakable power and beauty of Welsh choral singing to the ICC Wales stage.
