Guitarricadelafuente is a musician suspended between worlds. Raised between the quiet coastal town of Benicàssim and his grandmother’s village, Las Cuevas de Cañart, he grew up surrounded by echoes of rural folk and flamenco—traditions that would become the bedrock of his sound. His stage name, blending his surname Lafuente with the Aragonese diminutive for guitar, guitarrica, first gained attention with “El Conticinio” (2018), a lo-fi bedroom recording made on a PlayStation microphone. Its raw authenticity resonated widely and set the tone for his rise in Spain’s music scene. Fast forward to 2025, that same song featured in an Apple commercial directed by Spike Jonze and starring Pedro Pascal, a moment that captured the essence of his journey from intimate beginnings to global recognition.
His music reimagines Spanish folk traditions through textured indie-pop landscapes, where lo-fi tones meet flamenco whispers. Early successes like “Guantanamera” and “Nana Triste” (with Natalia Lacunza) reached tens of millions of streams and paved the way for his acclaimed debut La Cantera (2022). His second album, Spanish Leather (2025), with its Wolfgang Tillmans cover art, builds on that foundation with bold sonic and visual evolution. Rooted in vulnerability and authenticity, Guitarricadelafuente continues to craft modern songs that feel like postcards from a dreamy past, bringing a singular vision to the world stage.
