George Clanton is an American electronic musician, singer-songwriter, and producer, best known for his innovative contributions to the vaporwave and chillwave genres. Born in Virginia, Clanton began his musical journey after downloading a mislabeled track by The Brian Jonestown Massacre, which led him to explore electronic music.
Originally performing under the name Mirror Kisses, Clanton later adopted the alias ESPRIT 空想, creating experimental vaporwave music before transitioning to his real name in 2015. In the same year, he founded the independent label 100% Electronica, which became a key platform for his work. His music blends elements of electropop, trip-hop, and vaporwave, often evoking a nostalgic, dream-like atmosphere.
Clanton’s discography includes the albums 100% Electronica (2015), Slide (2018), and Ooh Rap I Ya (2023), with collaborations such as his self-titled album with Nick Hexum of 311 in 2020. He also organizes the 100% ElectroniCON festival, further cementing his role as a key figure in the electronic music community.
Known for his DIY approach and innovative sound, Clanton continues to push the boundaries of electronic music, earning a loyal fanbase and critical recognition.
