Any gig at the union chapel is going to be wonderful, but this collection of artists was simply beautiful. Enjoyed every one of them.

Gabrielle Aplin , Concorde 2, Brighton - 23rd October 2017

The warm up acts were nice. Her own performance was great, energetic and playful with the crowd. Played a good mix of well known and new songs. She also played two additional songs as an encore, which was nice. All around an amazing concert.

Artist Bio

Singer / Songwriter Gabrielle Aplin came to the fore building her fanbase through her YouTube videos of acoustic covers. She has since signed to major label Parlophone through whom she has released her two albums English Rain and Light Up The Dark.

Her latest album is entitled Light Up The Dark. It adds a new chapter to a career that has already delivered 80 million Spotify streams, 90 million YouTube views, 1.5 million sales of single, and #1 chart positions in the UK and Australia over the course of her Gold certified debut album English Rain.

Light Up The Dark received extensive BBC Radio 1 support with a playlist for the title track as well as Huw Stephens’ Hottest Record followed by a second playlist for the recent single Sweet Nothing.

The album was inspired by Joni Mitchell and the production on Feist’s The Reminder. “Her voice is just here, right at the front, and everything sits around it perfectly,” says Aplin. “I’ve also become much more comfortable writing songs about other people’s stories as well as my own, much of which is inspired by travelling and everything I’ve seen since my first album.

Gabrielle Aplin has just announced that her next album will be titled Dear Happy which is scheduled for released on January 17th next year;

I’m so excited to release Dear Happy into the world. It’s been a few years in the works as I figured out what I wanted to say with my third album. The start of this album, without knowing at the time, coincided with the moment I made a definitive decision to start to unravel and rewire my brain. Dear Happy subsequently became a documentation of this journey to myself. I wanted to use writing as a way of understanding.

Sonically I wanted to capture these moments and experiences in a positive light. I want to listen back to these songs in 5 years and hear happiness and positivity. It’s an album about saying “f**k it!” to your worries and insecurities. Or maybe it’s an album that invites your worries and insecurities to sit with you. It’s an album about saying “no”. It’s an album about saying “YES”. It’s an album that is a past, present and future letter to myself.
