Additional information
Yn seiliedig ar fonodrama enwog a chanmoladwy Gary Owen, Iphigenia in Splott, mae Effi o Blaenau yn ddehongliad sinematig gan y cyfarwyddwr Marc Evans, wedi’i osod yn erbyn tirweddau eang Gogledd Cymru.
Wrth i Effi ddygymod â’i chylch wythnosol o ddiweithdra, clybio, a chur pen, mae’n digwydd cwrdd â Lee, milwr wedi’i anafu, mewn clwb nos yn Llandudno, sydd am eiliad yn agor y drws i rywbeth gwell. Am funud, mae Effi’n cael cipolwg ar fywyd na fuasai hi erioed wedi’i ddychmygu. Mae’r realiti sy’n dilyn yn llawer anos.
Based on Gary Owen's much lauded and widely performed monodrama, Iphigenia in Splott, Effi o Blaenau is director Marc Evans' cinematic interpretation set against the wide open landscapes of North Wales.
The film follows Effi, a young woman who learns firsthand the personal costs of our societal shortcomings. Grappling with her weekly loop of unemployment, clubbing and hangovers, Effi has a chance encounter in a Llandudno nightclub with injured soldier Lee, briefly opening a door to something better. For a moment, Effi glimpses a life she never imagined. The reality that follows is far tougher.
