Dizzee Rascal (born Dylan Mills) is one of the most influential British rappers of his generation, credited with helping to pioneer grime and take it into the mainstream. Growing up in East London, he burst onto the scene with his Mercury Prize-winning debut Boy in da Corner (2003), a record packed with sharp lyricism, futuristic beats and raw storytelling that captured the energy of UK streets. Follow-ups like Showtime (2004) and Maths + English (2007) cemented his reputation as an innovative voice, while collaborations with artists such as Arctic Monkeys, Florence + The Machine and Chase & Status showcased his versatility.
By the late 2000s, Dizzee had become a household name with chart-topping hits like “Dance Wiv Me,” “Bonkers” and “Holiday,” introducing grime to wider audiences while keeping its uncompromising edge. He has headlined festivals including Glastonbury, Wireless and Reading & Leeds, and continues to release music that pushes boundaries, such as E3 AF (2020). With awards from the Mercury Prize to multiple BRIT and MOBO wins, Dizzee Rascal remains a defining figure in UK music. An artist who transformed underground grit into global recognition without losing touch with his roots.
