“Glasgow’s Dead Pony are bursting into 2020 with just buckets and buckets of style” Dork

“The track marks a turning point for Dead Pony, as they begin to turn steady interest into serious hype” The Line Of Best Fit

“With a hint of Wolf Alice’s ‘Bros’, the widescreen-drama of Black Honey and a whole load of brooding Glasgow punk” Gigwise

Glasgow’s newest post-punk exports Dead Pony continue their relentless ascent with fiery second cut ‘Sharp Tongues’, set for release July 24th via LAB Records.

Confident, assertive and dripping with rage, the fearless quartet’s latest effort justifies the excitement surrounding the thriving Scottish scene, as they follow in the footsteps of fellow risers The Ninth Wave and Walt Disco, attracting widespread acclaim throughout the press landscape (NME, The Line Of Best Fit, Dork, Gigwise) and across the BBC Radio 1 airwaves (Huw Stephens, Jack Saunders).

Detailing their upcoming release, enigmatic frontwoman Anne Shields revealed: “‘Sharp Tongues’ is written about those people who absolutely grind your ears. Those people who are hellbent on spreading gossip and starting rumours. They are so unfulfilled with their boring lives, that to add a bit of spice they rely on stirring the pot and starting shit with people. I bet everyone had at least one-person spring to mind after reading that - and that is who this song is about”.

Artist Bio

Becoming the latest act to emerge from Glasgow’s thriving post-punk scene, bustling quartet Dead Pony announce their arrival with riotous new cut ‘Everything Is Easy’, set for release May 1st via LAB Records.

Following the lead of fellow Scottish risers The Ninth Wave and Walt Disco, the frenetic four-piece are primed for their relentless ascent to the top of Scotland’s musical agenda and beyond, having concocted a fearsome live reputation with their high-octane rock ‘n’ roll, earning esteemed slots alongside the likes of Courtney Barnett, Black Honey and The Mysterines in their relatively short time together so far.

“‘Everything is Easy’ is a take on how simple childhood experiences can be soured as you grow older”, explains frontwoman Anna Shields. “Lyrically, we tried to capture that feeling of betrayal you feel as a young, naïve child when you find out Santa isn’t real or that your conception wasn’t via your Dad finding a snotter on the wall and raising it to become you. We came up with this idea after having discussed how ridiculous the things were we believed as children”.

Dead Pony is Anna Shields (lead vocals, guitar), Blair Crichton (lead guitar, backing vocals), Liam Adams (bass), Aidan McAllister (drums)
