Great for Byron lovers
First time I have been in the Abbey, some steps and dark rooms to protect the art.Heavily centred around Byron which is understandable.Xmas at Rufford just seemed an add on to the usual displays.Annoying having to pay extra to park and the cafe is very small. Not good having to sit outside on metal chairs with an oap.Quite a lot of rooms to visit with interesting displays worth a look.

Christmas at Newstead - House Admission, Newstead Abbey, Ravenshead - 29th December 2024
So brilliant we went twice!
'Snowed In' was wonderful.
Based on an actual event it was such a brilliant concept for a Christmas event and was executed brilliantly. We loved that it was shown through the eyes of Joe Murray, Byron's faithful retainer - with drama, emotion and intrigue in the background. Newstead Abbey's Christmas event is our new(ish) tradition and much better than some larger stately homes' events. The night time tour was atmospheric and by visiting the second time we saw a different perspective. An excellent event and if you didn't go, you really missed a treat. Thank you to the Newstead Abbey team for all your hard work - Happy New Year to you all.
