Great Torrington Cavaliers – Bonfire 2020 Mayflower 400
Terms, Conditions and Additional Information
The T&Cs of our online ticket seller can be found at www.gigantic.com
Tickets can be posted to you, printed at home, or you can keep them as an e-ticket on your phone. You will need to present your printed or e-ticket at the entry gates to be scanned. Entry without a ticket may not be possible depending on the number scanned/expected. All queries on the sale of tickets will need to be directed to our online ticket seller on 0115 8077 900.
By purchasing a ticket from us you accept that we reserve the right to randomly check bags or other items being taken through the entry gates onto the site – refusing the search may prevent your entry.
As this event is a major fundraiser for charity, we have a no refund policy. However, our ticket seller offers protection at a small additional cost.
We will provide all children with wrist bands – a mobile phone number must be written on them to enable us to call you in the event of a lost child. Lost children will be taken to an area that’s clearly marked. No announcements will be made over the PA system for lost children.
We understand that you would like your child to see the bonfire and the best way may be by lifting them on your shoulders – we don’t recommend this but please bring a hat for them to wear because of possible hot embers flying over the crowd.
Please bear in mind that shortly after the fire is lit it will get very HOT, especially if you are close to the barriers. Please look after your child for the short duration of the intense burn.
The bonfire site terrain and access to it is difficult for people with mobility problems. We are therefore providing a DISABLED PARK & VIEW area across the valley next to the golf club, where you can watch from your vehicle. This area provides an excellent view and there will be toilets and a PA system linked to the bonfire site. There is a charge of £20 per vehicle (payable on the gate) but it does not include admission to the main site.
For those coming to the bonfire site with mobility problems, please talk to a steward on the gate and/or a Cavalier (orange jackets) and we will endeavour to guide you to place which will be less crowded. We do however, respectfully request that only one other family member/carer enter this area as it will have limited capacity. A disabled toilet will be provided in the area.
This is a bonfire and fireworks event – we therefore have a strict NO DOGS policy. Anyone seen with a dog on site will be asked to leave.
Due to the nature of this event and the number of people visiting we will assess anyone at the gates who appears to be intoxicated to the extent that it may create a safety risk for that person or others – we then reserve the right to refuse entry.
There will be no bar on site but visitors will be allowed in with their own refreshments.
There will be numerous food outlets around the bonfire site. You may bring your own food on site and please place any waste into the bins provided. Sorry, strictly no BBQs.
You must do as stewards ask because it will be for yours and everyone else’s safety if you are asked to move to somewhere else onsite.
If you have any queries please approach a steward or a Cavalier (orange jackets).
In the unlikely event of an evacuation you will hear announcements over the PA system and on the big TV screen. Please do what the stewards ask of you as they are looking after your safety.
You enter the bonfire site entirely at your own risk and the Great Torrington Cavaliers accept no responsibility for injury or loss howsoever caused.
All Cavalier car parks will be free of charge, apart from the DISABLED PARK & VIEW area. RHS Rosemoor Park & Ride for vehicles travelling from the Plymouth and Exeter directions will be FREE. The other Park & Ride services from Barnstaple and Bideford are chargeable.
The edge of town parking areas are agricultural fields. Please park safely and responsibly and do as requested by our parking stewards.
There will be NO PARKING at or adjacent to the bonfire site.
The Great Torrington Cavaliers accept no responsibility for injury or loss to vehicles or the contents howsoever caused.
Walking distances from car parks
Dartington Crystal or bus stops by church for park and ride service from Barnstaple and RHS Rosemoor and parking point for bus tours – 0.6 miles, 14 minutes.

Drummetts Mill, near the Puffing Billy for traffic from Bideford, Holsworthy etc – 0.4 miles, 15 minutes.
Town centre car parks – 0.7 miles, 14 minutes.
Park & Ride drop-off at Puffing Billy from Bideford – 0.4 miles, 12 minutes
Park & Ride @RHS Rosemoor, drop-off at Dartington Crystal – 1.7 miles, 5 minutes by bus, 14 minute walk from Dartington to bonfire site.
In the event of severe weather we may have to alter the programme at short notice. Announcements will be made on local radio and on social media. Wind direction is a key factor so spectators may be asked by stewards to move to a different part of the site for safety reasons.
