Scottish funk and R&B group Average White Band rose to the fore in the 70’s and are best-known for their hit instrumental single "Pick Up the Pieces".
First formed in 1972, their band members now include Alan Gorrie (bass, guitars, vocals, keys) Owen "Onnie" McIntyre (guitars), Fred Vigdor (tenor saxophone, keys), Rocky Bryant (drums) Brent Carter (vocals), Rob Aries (keys, bass) and Cliff Lyons (alto saxophone).
They have released thirteen studio albums, including Show Your Hand (1973), AWB (1974), Cut the Cake (1975), Soul Searching (1976), Benny & Us (1976), Warmer Communications (1976), Feel No Fret (1979), Shine (1980), Cupid's in Fashion (1982), Aftershock (1989), Soul Tattoo (1997), Living in Colour (2003) and Inside Out (2018).
