Avalanche Kaito are unlike anything else on today’s music map. Born in Brussels, the trio throws together Burkinabé griot tradition with raw post-punk energy and jagged electronics. Fronted by Kaito Winse, whose soaring voice and ancestral instruments (tama, mouth bow, Peul flute) channel generations of West African storytelling, the sound is detonated by Benjamin Chaval’s pounding drums and Nico Gitto’s anarchic guitar. Their debut EP Dabalomuni and 2022 self-titled album announced a thrilling new force—freaked-out, juddering punk colliding head-on with ritual and folklore.
On stage, Avalanche Kaito are a storm. Their shows hit like trance ceremonies: noise, groove and tradition breaking apart and reforming in real time. Festival crowds at Supersonic, End of the Road and beyond have been left spellbound, pulled into a vortex of rhythm and chaos. With follow-up album Talitakum (2024), they’ve stretched their sound into even wilder shapes—polyrhythms, feedback, bursts of pure freedom. Bold, furious and deeply alive, Avalanche Kaito are ripping open the space between past and future, and daring you to step inside.
