Art Brut are a London-based indie rock band formed in (2003), known for their sharp wit, self-aware lyrics and punchy, angular sound. Fronted by Eddie Argos, the band also features Ian Catskilkin on lead guitar, Freddy Feedback on bass, Toby MacFarlaine on guitar and Charlie Layton on drums. Their music leans into irony and humour while remaining rooted in classic indie rock energy, pairing spoken-sung vocals with jagged riffs and urgent rhythms that feel both playful and confrontational.
Their debut album Bang Bang Rock & Roll (2005) quickly established them as cult favourites, followed by It’s a Bit Complicated (2007), Art Brut vs. Satan (2009), Brilliant! Tragic! (2011) and Wham! Bang! Pow! Let’s Rock Out! (2018). Across their catalogue, Art Brut have remained proudly themselves, celebrating awkwardness, obsession and the joy of pop culture with intelligence and charm. Renowned for energetic live shows and a fiercely loyal fanbase, they continue to occupy a singular space within British indie rock.
