Incisive and incisor-sharp wit in equal measure from the lapsed altar boy!
Aisling can't help but tangent in a natural and effortless manner from her themed material. Her joy de vivre and whole approach to the unplanned chaos of life is infectious, and the 'and so...' mass-like climax (always a word i love to use in reference to the Catholic church) left me with a warm sense of pathos about not appreciating our roots and upbringing until early parenthood. Aisling explains how her upbringing and repressed sex education by ancient nuns leaves her wanting to encourage a fairer gender-balanced society by 'handing men more babies' to instil them with more confidence. I took my 8-months pregnant partner on a 'date night' so the Caesarean operating theatre depictions of grotesque puppetry & themed playlists etc were pretty close to the bone!
The evening was well paced with an opening slot from Aisling in her dressing gown, before a charming support act from Dom(inic) McGovern; a Brazilian-loving southerner who won over most of the cavernous Octagon with a self-deprecating and sharply observational style.
