About We Are Harlot
There are rock groups, and then there are rock supergroups. From Mr Big and Asia to Them Crooked Vultures, Audioslave and Velvet Revolver, there’s something about a group made up of musicians from other successful bands that just begs you to listen. Though We Are Harlot may not have the same long pedigree as some of those bands, with their ‘80’s influenced rock metal vibes you can easily forget that you’re listening to a supergroup formed of bands with a more recent history.
We Are Harlot is comprised of singer Danny Worsnop who first found fame as the frontman of Asking Alexandria, Jeff George - former guitarist with Sebastian Bach - Bruna Agra from Revolution Renaissance on drums, and Silvertide’s Brian Weaver picking up bass duties. First playing together in 2011, their debut album only came out recently at the end of March 2015, but already they’re picking up plenty of radio play from rock radio stations, and have been nominated for Metal Hammer’s Golden Gods Best New Band award.
This June you can see them shred their way through some of their catchiest, head bop-inducing tunes at London’s O2 Academy Islington. Conveniently located for King’s Cross and other transport hubs if you’re coming in from elsewhere in the country, the venue is situated within the N1 Shopping Centre and has a capacity of approximately 800. Smaller than some but larger than many, the Academy promises to be the perfect place to get your rock on and enjoy what’s sure to be a barnstorming We Are Harlot concert.
Listening to We Are Harlot’s inaugural album, it’s easy to see the kind of music that the band members grew up listening to, with strains of Van Halen, Motley Crue and Aerosmith emanating throughout. As an attempt to resurrect the genre, the band’s efforts can so far surely be deemed a success, and these upcoming We Are Harlot tour dates are a chance to see them live and in the flesh.
